Qualifications / experience

I am a fully qualified coach and hold a professional diploma from Coaching Development Ltd in London. The diploma took 18 months to complete, and included 20 days of live training and many hours of observed coaching practice. It included studies in Transactional Analysis and the Coactive coaching model. I have also trained in Solution-Focused Coaching, Non-Violent Communication and NLP.

I am accredited by the ICF (International Coach Federation), a global leader in coaching standards, as a Professional Certified Coach (PCC). For this it was necessary to complete 125 hours of coach training, pass an oral and written examination and engage in ongoing professional development. My next step will be to achieve my Master Certified Coach (MCC) credential for which I need to accrue a total of 2500 hours of coaching experience (watch this space…).

With more than 2000 hours of experience gained since 2001, I have coached my clients on a huge range of personal and professional topics. I have worked with a total of 300+ people, including both private, small business and corporate clients. In my private practice, common themes are career transitions or regaining a sense of purpose and direction, and issues of confidence and self-esteem are never far away.

My work with SMEs has included helping small business leaders regain their vision for their businesses and take practical steps to build for the future. Effective leadership and clear communication with business partners and staff has been a common topic.

Corporate and business clients include NHS, BUPA, Connexions, Penny Brohn Cancer Care, The Soil Association, Garden Organic and the Health Education Trust. One-to-one work has focused on coaching middle and senior managers on a range of strategic and soft topics, specialising in authentic leadership, effective communication and improving confidence and self belief.

I have also facilitated courses and workshops in both a corporate and private setting. In organisations, I have specialised in running forward-looking workshops and seminars for teams and groups of staff facing redundancy and career transitions. I have also worked on programmes aimed at introducing a coaching culture to large organisations. In my private practice I facilitate workshops on career change, life purpose and effective life planning. These include courses ‘on the move’ where I take people out to walk long-distance trails to help them gain clarity and commitment to their next steps.

I am an associate coach with several organisations centred around the support and development of authentic leadership, personal and professional development:
The Pegasus Partnership www.pegasus-partnership.com
The Windsor Leadership Trust www.windsorleadershiptrust.org.uk
The Oasis School of Human Relations www.oasishumanrelations.org.uk

I am familiar with the commercial pressures of both small and large organisations from my time in the BBC and many small companies. I understand the conflicting need to juggle tight schedules and budgets yet maximise creativity, to hold the big picture and the detail, to manage and co-ordinate teams and clients — whilst never losing sight of essential values. I have run my own businesses and been self employed for 12 years. I understand the thrills and challenges of running small businesses.

My coaching is confidential, fully insured, supervised and respects the ICF ethics.
